The presentation on Insights on Fire Safety related requirements in National Building Code – NBC gives an insight into the National Building Code (NBC) and the related requirements in fire safety. It discusses about the revised NBC rules, fire prevention techniques with reference to buildings and also some take home points.
With buildings spreading wings both horizontally and vertically upward even up to height of 200 metre to accommodate more habitat, it increases the fire risks & hazards. Fire prevention is the proactive method of reducing emergencies and the damage caused by fires. There are several factors on which fire prevention techniques are based.
The objective is to spread awareness about fire safety and the precautions to be taken to prevent potentially harmful fires and how to survive them. Thus, provisions for fire protection of buildings are required. The revised NBC incorporates the necessary fire prevention provisions for life safety.
