Meet our army in green: a way of life at Consultivo

Green Plants at Consultivo
Humans have an intrinsic connection to nature and to have its presence at work not only creates a positive energy but also calms and relaxes us in a great way.

As the daylight slowly peeped through the glass windows of our office on 2nd floor, the green colony (the office plants, as they call themselves) woke up.

“Hey all, candid Calendula, Chinese Bamboo, beautiful Palm & lovely Lily! Good morning”, greeted money plant to his green friends at Consultivo.

Everyone also wished, “Good morning, dear Money plant!” Soon, they heard a jangling sound of keys and there they knew that office was about to begin.

Say “Hello” to our army in green which enhances the beauty of our workplace along with providing us with a healthier & cleaner environment.

While everyone gets engaged in their work & meetings sipping on their daily cuppa of coffee, our silent green caretakers keep us protected & refreshed throughout with their unconditional care & magical healing spell.

We, humans, have an intrinsic connection to nature and to have its presence at work not only creates a positive energy but also calms and relaxes us in a great way. So, it’s important to keep a healthy & sustainable indoor environment in our workplace as much as in our homes.

Life at Consultivo for our green army is as exciting as it is for us. More often, we keep adding newbies to the “green colony” of our office and also take great care in picking up the plant pots to give them an aesthetic appeal. And every fortnight, they are moved from their indoor shady shelter to the balcony for a refreshing sunbath.

Here are some of the important contributing factors as how these indoor plants make a difference in the environment of our workplace:

A healthy dose of cleaner air

Our green army consisting of Money plant, Chinese Bamboo, Peace Lily, Areca Palm, Mother-in-law’s tongue & others are effective air purifiers as they reduce the VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) released into the air through paints, carpets, office equipment, etc. causing headache, itchy eyes & other allergic reactions. They remove toxins from the air and also convert CO2 to O2, producing cleaner air for us to breathe.

Boosts up productivity & creativity at work

A greener environment appears calmer & relaxing as they create visually calmer & comfortable surroundings to be in. In a study conducted in 2010, significant reductions were recorded where plants were placed in the office:

  • Tension/Anxiety – 37% reduction
  • Depression/Dejection – 58% reduction
  • Anger/Hostility – 44% reduction
  • Fatigue – 38% reduction

Thermal comfort

Plants reflect light and hence, help to keep a cooler environment at the workplace, providing us with a comfortable environment to work in.

But it saddens me to know that ethical purchasing is till now a ‘Good To Have’ concept. It’s not yet a “Must Have Criterion” in most of the developing and the (even in the) developed economies.

Noise unplugged

One lesser known advantage of indoor plants is their ability to reduce surrounding noise, as much as 5 decibels by acting as extra insulation between spaces. Distracting background noise gets relatively reduced allowing us to concentrate on our work.

Too many cups of coffee?

Well, a research study also proved that employees are less likely to drink coffee at regular intervals of time in a greener & healthier environment. They are relatively more active and less drowsy at work with a limited intake of caffeine.
Thus, a greener office environment is a more welcoming place for everyone as it creates a positive impact both physically & psychologically. Let’s step forward together to leave greener footprints for a happier, healthier & sustainable surrounding on our planet Earth.

If you want some tips about making your space greener, do let us know! We would be happy to share!
